Our friend and Heartsfield co-founder, J.C. Hartsfield, has passed.  He was a talented musician and the author of "The Wonder of It All" and "Lafayette County."  In a lot of ways, he brought the country to Heartsfield.  The Heartsfield family will miss him, his humor, and his ready laugh.

J.C. developed his love of music at a young age.  He started playing the guitar when he was 12. J.C. retired from life on the road in the early 80’s., and settled in South Haven, MI.  It was in South Haven where J.C. started his own maintenance company; Hartsfield Maintenance, Inc.  J.C. took care of all the condominiums on North Shore Drive.  He was known as “The Man”.  He formed lasting friendships with several of the owners.  He retired in 2007 after 35 years of business.

In retirement, J.C. loved writing and playing music, fishing, traveling across the country on his Harley and spending time with his daughters and grandchildren; Kristin and Katie.
